The Canucks locker room takes a heavy hit yesterday as 6'8" veteran defenseman Tyler Myers was traded to the Dallas Stars. Myers has had a long consistent career over his 17 seasons in the league, putting up a career-high 36 points in 82 games back in 2017-18 for the Winnipeg Jets. While his technical abilities have never been what makes Myers so good, he offers a lot to the cup-contending Stars' roster playing a depth position. Myers plays a very active game utilizing his long reach and large figure. While he does have a bit of weakness in giving up turnovers, Myers has a strong and heavy defensive game and plays well positionally.

Tyler Myers is a player I have always been a fan of. He was seemingly loved by everyone in the locker room and absolutely someone you want your young guys to grow up alongside and learn from. Myers was helpful in the development of former Canucks' star Quinn Hughes. Hughes had more freedom to play with the shiftiness and absurd foot-movement that he is known for thanks to Myers' heavy physical game. Myers has been a mentor to many young Canucks throughout his tenure here and his presence will certainly be missed.
As things are now, the trade is beneficial to both parties. If you were unaware of the current market-value for RHD you would be surprised to see Myers fetch a 2nd and a 4th round pick (and rightfully so). The Canucks sold at the right time and Myers will be a strong addition to the Stars' blue line.
Go win a cup in Dallas Myesy!
